This adventure will take you from the
colourful maze of pastel-coloured colonial relics of Antigua, to the tranquil lake-side towns of Lake Atitlàn.
Take in the local food culture in Antigua. Kayak the crystal waters of lake Atitlán. Hike the volcanic mountainscape. Wander around Chichcastenango “Chichi” market - one of the largest and most diverse in Central America. Take in the bohemian vibe of San Marcos, and witness the spell-binding local weaving practices.
DAY 1 | Arrive in Guatemala + Transfer to Antigua + Orientation
DAY 2 | Wander historic Antigua, and opt to join in on a
foodie walking tour.
Start near your hotel in
Antigua, then continue to the central market to have a delicious variety of
fruits, then take “chicken bus” to the next stop near San Francisco Cathedral,
then head to Central Park and finish at La Merced, throughout the route you
will be part of the culture, taste different local food while getting to know
the history and waling at the stoned streets of Antigua.
Afternoon transfer to
Lake Atitlàn (approx 3 hrs).
*If you prefer to hike the Pacaya volcano
instead, this is the day to do it! Please inform OT ahead of time so that we
can help you arrange it.*
DAY 3 | Rise and shine with a morning yoga class. Take a free day
to relax or explore the small villages around the lake.
DAY 4 | Rise early to enjoy a morning kayak around Santiago
Atitlàn. Hike through incredible landscapes, ending at the viewpoint
locally known as "Heaven's Door". Enjoy lunch at the home of your
guide.
DAY 5 | Day trip to vibrant Chichicastenango Market + Sundown Lakeside
yoga.
DAY 6 | AM transfer back to Antigua, and visit the archaeological
site of
Iximche along the way
(entry fee not included). Arrive to Antigua and enjoy a free day to explore
this vibrant city.
DAY 7 | Departure Day. Transfer to Antigua or Guatemala City
